Where Fellowship and Song Hold Sway

Barber Pole
Barbershop is a uniquely American style of unaccompanied close-harmony singing in four parts - Tenor, Lead, Baritone and Bass - wherein the melody is sung in the second voice.

The music is in the style of "the old songs" from the heyday of Tin Pan Alley, circa 1890-1920. The lyrics emphasize simple heartfelt emotions such as love, friendship and recollections of days gone by.

Melodies are in the vocal and skill range of the average singer.

Wikipedia is an excellent reference for the barbershop style.
